The Power of RANK
Need a task to be top priority? This is what the RANK command accomplishes.
Today’s exercise is to enter a task using the website Task.it - and set the RANK of a task.
New tasks are automatically given the highest priority and placed at the top of your list of tasks. (It is more common that older tasks have a tendency to fade in value.)
But how do you change the priority of tasks?
There are two ways to change the RANK of a task.
The Web UI: Use the RANK dropdown. When entering a task on the Task.it site, you will see a drop down listing all of your previous tasks. You can use the dropdown to choose the task ABOVE which you would like to place the new task.
Your Calendar: Another approach is to change the RANK command keyword on the calendar item itself. When Task.it schedules a task, a RANK keyword is added with a numerical priority. Change that number and within 30 minutes, Task.it will reorder your task using that new ranking.
EXAMPLES:
TASK.IT
RANK 0
TASK.IT
RANK 5
Tips: If you want to push an item to the top of your list, give it “RANK 0”. Task.it will renumber your tasks from 1 going up. You can even use decimal places if you have several items you want to bunch up near the top (e.g. “RANK 0.1”, “RANK 0.2” etc.). These will be renumbered to integers later to clean up the numbering.
